I’m so glad you’re here.

It all starts with building a connection. A relationship. Understanding a story. Here’s a little bit of mine. You can find the bulleted list on my LinkedIn page.

Journalism degree: I’ve loved words for as long as I can remember. Reading. Writing. I went to school to tell other people’s stories. Then I found out that I don’t want to work in a newsroom. I branched out into design.

Financial Services: My first job out of college was for a local bank as a designer on a small team, which meant I also did events, reviewed media statements, and any other marketing tasks that needed to be done. I moved up to manage the marketing for a large department, learning about budgets, public relations, and video. By proxy, I dove headfirst into the world of personal finance that would continue to help me in every aspect of my life.

Education Technology: Moving to an educational technology company allowed me to manage people for the first time. I did a lot of presentations because schools were eager to learn about the technology but were not about to put their students’ education at risk. I also got to see first-hand the type of teachers that I hope everyone has at some point in their life.

Content Marketing: I didn’t even know content marketing agencies existed until I came across this agency. My initial role was to help build relationships with editors at publications I’d subscribed to for years. That evolved into building an externally facing course highlighting the best practices the company had learned during its seven years in business. Putting together that course filled in the details on what it takes to create a long-term, effective strategy.

College Courses: Words plus education. Leading marketing for a missional non-profit organization committed to providing affordable college-level courses for anyone is the culmination of so much of my career. I got to design collateral, plan webinars, write blog posts, and juggle all the pieces of a full marketing strategy. I also got to tell the world about earning affordable college credit.

Software for Social Impact: Being a Content Marketing Manager within a large company means I get to write, strategize, design, and think about content. All day. I work with the demand team for distribution. I work with the web team for SEO. I work with the product team for enablement. And the content I write is to help nonprofits—and those who work with nonprofits—make the world a better place. Please don’t pinch me. I might wake up.
